Presentations (1 to 1 ½ hour session, PowerPoint format)
- I have experience in speaking to groups of parents and students about the college-going process.
- Although I can speak on a number of higher ed topics, including paying for college and athletic recruiting, the most popular subject is:
- "Making Sense of Current-Day College Admissions .....
- An Insider's View of How Students are Evaluated and Selected"
- It includes topics like:
Why is it harder now than when the parents applied to college? The high school dilemma - hard courses or good grades? How colleges evaluate extra-curricular activities. How important is the SAT/ACT? Advice on preparation and scheduling. How does an admission committee evaluate applicants and decide who to admit? What are "tags” and how much of a difference do they make? Things to keep in mind when writing the college essay. If you have questions or would like to schedule a presentation, call me at (609) 737-7377 or email me at dbett@verizon.net with a number where I can reach you.
